Product Description for Min 2.50ct 10x8mm Emerald Cut Unheated Ametrine From Bolivia

Ametrine occurs when amethyst and citrine are naturally found together in one piece of quartz. Ametrine, which ranks a 7 on Mohs' hardness scale, is typically rectangular cut to show the color split, but it can be cut to blend colors through the stone. The major supplier of ametrine is the Anahi Mine in Bolivia, which became famous in the 17th century when it was given as dowry to a conquistador upon marriage. It was introduced to Europe through the conquistador's gifts to the Spanish queen.

"Finally I got an ametrine with a 50-50 split and I couldnt be happier. I've tried a few times and have been disappointed with the amethyst/citrine division, but this time...BINGO. I love it! There is definitely something to be said for persistence. It finally paid off for me. As much as I like the other Ametrines in my collection, to finally have one with a more even split is just great....."

"To my surprise I got a perfect 50/50 split straight down the middle. Bright amethyst color and the citrine side is a medium color yellow. Mine actually weight out at 3.55 ct. This is my best gemstone purchase yet. Im very pleased, this is great for this low price."
