It is found in Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar, but 85% of tsavorite garnets are under 1 carat.

    In 1967, British geologist Campbell Bridges was prospecting in northeastern Tanzania when he discovered green grossularite (a member of the garnet family). Today we call these beautiful and highly transparent green gems tsavorite.
    Tsavorites are characterized by a range of brilliant greens from spring-like pale green to intense blue green to deep forest green.
