    "I recently purchased a pair of 10K white gold Iolite earrings, a pear shape in the middle with all around stones around it. They were such a great value $99.00 and 1.80 carats total weight.
    I have been with JTV probably for 8-10 years. I have never
    actually returned anything. Your jewelry is the best.

    The color of these Iolite earrings are a really dark purplish

    The Vikings used iolite as a light polarizer, using it to see through the haze and determine the exact location of the sun on overcast days.
    With a very strong pleochroism, iolite changes colors when viewed from different angles.
    Iolite is found in Myanmar (previously called Burma), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, and the United States.








    Iolite

    Iolite is a gemstone with a slight variability in chemical composition between stones. It exhibits a blue-to-violet range of colors and sometimes shows a brownish streak. On Mohs’ scale of hardness, iolite is 7-7.5. It has a greasy luster and primary sources include Burma (Myanmar), Brazil, India, Madagascar, Sri Lanka and the United States.
