"I ordered this on a whim because I like black stones... and the price was low. The star in mine is a little hard to see and it has a chip on the edge of the stone. It does have a nice shiny polished look to it though. Even with the small chip, it will still look nice in a pendant, so I'm keeping it."

"I bought a few of these and several of the 9x7's with rather low expectations for these stones. I was so shocked when I got them and they were all perfect! They are perfectly cut, they all have the four pointed star. They are not a dark black stone like onyx or that kind of stone. They seem lighter, almost like there's a light coming from within the stone. They are really and truly the most beautiful black stones I have ever, or probably will ever see!!!"

"I too bought this because it was so inexpensive, truely, for the price I paid, I was expecting it to be of extremely poor quality. HOWEVER.......much to my surprise JTV proved me wrong. I couldn't tell it apart from a black star sapphire. I am waiting for the cabachon setting and the 2.5mm sterling silver omega neck chain that I ordered specifically for this star diopside. Thank you again JTV."

| Diopside is primarily a green stone with a perfect prismatic cleavage, but it can also be found in brown and violet-blue hues. |
| For a pure rich green color, a beautiful chrome diopside makes an excellent choice. |
| When cut cabochon, fibrous diopsides produce a lovely cat’s eye effect. |
Some of the most beautiful chrome diopsides can be found in the blue ground of the Kimberly diamond mines and in the Mogok Stone Tract of Myanmar. Other sources include Finland, India, Madagascar, Austria, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the United States. |
|
Diopside is from the pyrozene mineral group. Known for its pure green color, it also can be found in chrome, violet-blue, black, yellow, brown and colorless. It has perfect cleavage and on Mohs’ scale of hardness, diopside is 5-6. Sources include Burma (Myanmar), Finland, India, Madagascar, Austria, Sri Lanka, South Africa and the United States.
