"I wasn't sure what a 'salt candle' was, and learned that Natural Salt Candle Holders are some of the hippest green products around! The natural element of salt makes this candle holder special: as the salt crystal warms, moisture is gently absorbed by the candle-holder, causing it to 'sweat' and release ions from the salt crystals. The natural ionization effect of the warmed, moist salt is somewhat like negative ionizers in air cleaners, yet is a natural way to create that fresh, sea-side feeling in the air while enjoying the ambiance and soft beauty of candle light. Another bonus is that Natural Salt Candles use no electricity to increase negative ions and neutralize the air. Since the candle itself is moist, I think maybe that is why the felt is omitted from the bottom; the many 'art of living' shows & publications that feature them recommend using coasters. Tea lights (smokeless) are most effective for Natural Salt Candle Holders because they thoroughly warm the salt cube from top to bottom, releasing more ions. It's also recommended that for the greatest ionizing effect use at least two or three salt candles per room. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth & pat dry with a towel."

"Rec'd in the mail 2/5/08; As beautiful as the rose quartz candleholders, which I own 6 and bought many for gifts. I have one suggestion: they need the felt on the bottom so they don't scratch surfaces, as the rose quartz do have the felt. Will be purchasing more, and hope JTV gets different types in the future. Thanks JTV."
