Product Description for Min .20ct Mm Varies Pear Shape Hauyne
Hauyne is a rare type of mineral sometimes called huaynite. It was discovered in 1807 among Vesuvian lavas on Mt. Somma in Italy, by the French crystallographer Rene Just Hauy. The mineral has been found in a typically beautiful electric blue as well as green, red, yellow, and gray. Hauyne typically crystallizes very small; therefore, gem-quality faceted material of any size is very rare. It has a hardness of 5 to 6 on Mohs' scale.
