Product Description for 4.14ct 9.52x8.29mm Cushion Tsavorite Garnet
In 1967, a British geologist discovered tsavorite garnet in Africa near the Tsavo National Park. Unfortunately the material could not be exported from the region. Knowing the gemstone belt might stretch into other areas, he continued his search for tsavorite until 1971, when he found another source in Kenya. This time he was able to get rights to mine the gem, and a "new" gemstone made its way to the market. By 1974, the world began to understand the desirability of this newcomer, and it began making its way into the collections of gemstone connoisseurs the world over.
Naturally gorgeous, tsavorite garnet requires no enhancement to achieve its rich color. Its deep, clear greens seem to glow from within when superior material is expertly cut, like this stone. Anything over two carats is extremely difficult to find, lending this gem the additional distinction of impressive carat weight. Don't hesitate to add this natural beauty to your collection.
